Day 2: Thursday April 2, 2026 - Sightseeing in Fes
As the third largest city in Morocco, Fes consists of two old medina quarters, Fes el-Bali and Fes Jdid, in addition to the much larger modern urban Ville Nouvelle area founded during the French colonial era. The medina of Fez is listed as a World Heritage Site and is believed to be one of the world's largest urban pedestrian zones (car-free areas).
Enjoy a full day of exploring fascinating Fes, said to be the most complete Medieval city in the Arab world, still retaining the look and feel of the era.
Following a panoramic view of the city, our expert guide will lead us head first into a sense stimulating walk through the oldest part of the medina – across food and spice markets, handcraft quarters, auction markets, and colorful souks.
As we navigate the maze of narrow lanes, we will take our time to savor fantastic photography opportunities, including stops at the ancient tanneries, the Attarine Medrasa, and by the ancient Kairouine Mosque and University.
A fine lunch will be served at a restaurant in the Medina.
The Chouara Tannery is one of the three tanneries in the city of Fes. It is the largest tannery in the city and one of the oldest. It is located in the Fes el Bali, the oldest medina quarter of the city, near the Saffarin Madrasa along the Oued Fes. Since the inception of the city, the tanning industry has been continually operating in the same fashion as it did in the early centuries. The tanneries are packed with the round stone vessels filled with dye or white liquids for softening the hides. The leather goods produced in the tanneries are exported around the world.
The Great Mosque of Kairouan also known as the Mosque of Uqba is a mosque situated in the UNESCO World Heritage town of Kairouan, Tunisia and is one of the largest Islamic monuments in North Africa.
Established by the Arab general Uqba ibn Nafi in the year 50 AH (670CE) at the founding of the city of Kairouan, the mosque occupies an area of over 9,000 square metres. It is one of the oldest places of worship in the Islamic world, Gather for dinner tonight at a restaurant near the hotel, with an opportunity to practice night photography en route.

Day 5: Sunday April 5, 2026 - Erfoud to Merzouga sightseeing en route
After breakfast, proceed to Merzouga.
En route, stop to admire the fascinating fossils (trilobites) and other minerals of the region. These fossils date back to a time when the area was covered by water approximately 500 million years ago. Fossil workshops outside of Erfoud offer the opportunity to explore and find rare specimens, including ammonites, nautiloids, crinoids, and trilobites. The area was once a sea bed, and many marine animals existed there, leaving behind well-preserved fossils.
At Merzouga, transfer to 4x4s for a thrilling one-hour ride into the Sahara Desert towards the massive dune field of Erg Chebbi, where a sublime sunset excursion in the dunes awaits this afternoon.
As we approach the dunes, visit a family of nomads living in the desert, and continue on to the Merzouga Desert Camp for a private BBQ lunch.

At Todra, take in spectacular views along a narrow canyon ending in striking gorges, and see its oasis as well as the old fortified villages in the valley.
Continue to Dades to explore and photograph its imposing gorges and sheer rock formations. These gorges are situated on the remote east side of the High Atlas Mountains. The gorge has carved out cliff-sided canyons on the final 40 km through the mountains. The final 600 m of the Todra gorge are the most spectacular as the canyon narrows to a flat stony track as little as 10m wide in places with sheer and smooth rock walls up to 160m high on each side. The rock face changes color during the day, ranging from a rosy red to a dull tan.

The Ben Youssef Medersa, the excellent Photography Museum where we will also enjoy lunch on its breezy terrace (which has one of the best views in the city). Functioning today as a historical site, the Ben Youssef Madrasa was the largest Islamic college in Morocco at its height. The madrasa is named after the adjacent Ben Youssef Mosque. Historically, madrasas have served as centers for learning, worship and community interaction. In addition to teaching Quranic Tasfeer and Islamic jurisprudence, Islamic schools often taught a wide variety of subjects, including literature, science and history. The Ben Youssef Madrasa, in fulfilling these functions, was also one of the largest theological colleges in North Africa, reportedly able to accommodate upwards of 800 students. If timing works out, the Museum’s director whom we’ve known for many years, may be able to personally welcome us and give an introduction.
The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore independently. Those interested can join us on our second photography outing into the magical central Square at sunset.

Important Details
PRICING: Our prices are based on hotel, airfare, entry fees, and other service costs as of this time. Any increase in the cost of the guide, fuel, government service tax, monument entrance fees, etc., will be advised to our guests as a supplement.
PAYMENTS: Our special rates are quoted on a full advance payment basis, as per the agreed upon terms. Payment for services is made via bank wire transfer directly to the Delhi offices of Eternal Journeys. Credit cards are not accepted at this time. A 60% deposit is due on booking and the 40% balance is due 60 days prior to arrival, unless otherwise noted in your invoice. Delayed payments are often subject to hotel and airfare rate increases beyond our control. Payments split among guests may result in all of the reservations being processed only after the final guest has paid. Please coordinate any group payments to avoid delays in bookings being secured.
CURRENCY FLUCTUATIONS: Tour costs have been calculated based on the existing rates, tariffs and conditions with consideration to international currency markets rates as of this date. In the case of any currency fluctuations, we reserve the right to revise the tour price accordingly.
LAST MINUTE BOOKINGS: With a population of billions of people in the region, there is a rapid increase in the traffic of domestic travelers. This means that any late or last-minute bookings may place us on long waiting lists, especially on domestic flights or trains, and the reservation may possibly not confirm at all. So, we request that you plan to make reservations and payments well in advance to enable us to serve you better.
DOMESTIC AIRLINE TICKETS: Most airlines here work on a Best Available Fare basis, which is much like the “offer of the day.” This fare is dynamic and keeps changing on a daily basis. The applicable fare is known only at the time of the actual booking and may change from the previously posted price. This is particularly true in the final months and weeks prior to the flight date. So, we request that our partners and guests submit a timely reservation to avoid any price increase in airfare.
FLIGHT / TRAIN DELAYS: Domestic flights and trains, as well as International connecting flights, suffer constant modifications or delays and even cancellations, sometimes at the very last minute. In such cases, we will do all that is possible to find the best available alternative solution but will not accept any responsibility whatsoever for the airlines or railway systems. In some rare cases, the re-scheduling will result in an added fare, which is passed onto our guests. Note that it is common for the departure times of flights to be rescheduled 10 to 30 minutes earlier, or later, after the time of booking. We will notify guests of such changes in a timely manner.
ROAD CONDITIONS: Ours is a very different region than yours in every respect. While we have some of the best hotels in the world, the road conditions, transport systems as well as domestic flights cannot be compared with those in your home country. The average speed on most roads is 50-80 kilometers per hour (35-55 mph) and even less on rural or unpaved roads. Driving times indicated in the program are based on typical and reasonable estimates, but actual drive times will vary.
PICK UP TIMINGS: Pick-up timings for transfers, sightseeing tours, and inter-city drives shall be advised at each destination by our local office representatives or our drivers, as it is best decided by them looking at many situations on that particular day.
AIRPORT REPORTING: Reporting time is two (2) hours prior to the schedule departure for all domestic flights and three (3) hours prior on international flights.
CANCELLATION POLICIES: Our prices are governed by the Booking and Cancellation Policies of the company. In many cases we are bound by local reservation and payment policies with our vendors that do not allow for refunds. We strongly recommend that all guests enroll in a suitable travel insurance program to protect your investment in the case of cancellation or major change within or beyond our control. We do not offer travel insurance but are happy to make recommendations on reputable companies and services.
EARLY CHECK-IN / LATE CHECK-OUT: Hotel check-in time is 1400 hours and check-out time is 1200 noon. We can put a request on behalf of the clients, and will do our best, to get the early check-in and late check-out. However, that remains at the discretion of the particular hotel and only known at the last minute.
CULTURAL DETAILS / TIPPING GUIDELINES: General Information on the countries that you will be visiting (Helpful Hints, Do’s & Don’ts, Tipping Guidelines, etc.) is available on request.
TOUR INCLUSIONS: Our rates include only those items which are specified in the Tour Price Inclusions.
ADDITIONAL SERVICES: Additional service, if any, during the trip will have to be paid directly by the guests at the time of service. For additional services requiring advance reservations or payments, please contact us a soon as possible so that we may better serve you.
Hotel Prices / Bookings and Other Terms
- Our room rates are the best available at the time of the quotation. Hotel rates may change at the time of reservation (unless already booked), depending on the day we process the actual reservations.
- At this moment we are not holding any reservations, unless specified in the booking status column. Booking typically takes 24-48 hours to process from the time of receipt of payment.
- Hotels reserve the right to revise the rates, or introduce peak season supplements, at a later stage unless already paid in full. We strongly advise our guests to make prompt deposit payments to better ensure the hotel rates as previously quoted.
- Unless specifically noted in the program, our price for services does not include the participation cost at Holiday Dinners (Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve, Lunar New Year, Ramadan, Eid, etc.), Special Events (during various fairs and festivals), etc., which may be mandatory for hotel booking beyond our influence and shall be settled directly by the clients.
- In many medium to small sized cities, not every category of hotel is available. In such cases, accommodations of a lower category than intended will be advised and will be clearly indicated in the program under Hotel Options.
- Our quotations are calculated on base category of accommodation at each property and are subject to modification if the same hotel / category of room is not available at the time of reservation. We will then confirm the superior category of room (or alternate property) and shall advise guests of the supplemental charges (if applicable) accordingly.
- Upgrade from base category to higher category rooms can also be done separately as a supplemental cost. Please inquire in advance if you wish to stay at higher tier rooms for your tour, as it is much more successful to book these rooms earlier in the process.
- There is always a shortage of rooms with twin beds at hotels in the region. If you desire twin beds instead of double beds, please request this specifically and we will do all that we can to secure this. Note that twin bed requests are not absolute and arriving at the hotel earlier in the check-in period will provide our guests much better options in obtaining the desired rooming situation.
- Room availability is getting saturated due to heavy demands from the tourism industry, international fairs and conventions. Due to these constant sold-out situations, the hotels are applying the cancellation rules more stringently. Once the reservation is guaranteed then the booking is subject to a 100% full cancellation charges if you decide to not to use the same. We also recommend you to take out necessary insurance to protect yourself against cancellations of this nature.
